Key words: Writing is, in essence, a process moving the pen, so handwriting inevitably reflects the pen movement. When studying handwriting, the pen movement must be investigated, not only the pen movement itself, but also the restrictive factors. The pen movement should be analyzed in two respects, one is its connotative meanings and constitutive elements, and the other is its reflection in handwriting. Doing so helps understand the basic attributes of handwriting comparison, and grasp the nature of the writing habit system. The basis and standards for understanding and reasoning of handwriting characteristics are also explored.
