    Abstract ( )
Judicial expertise is an integrated discipline and is listed in the legal education only for the last few years. The practice and theory of judicial expertise have a long history in China. It is the result of social development and the product of legal science, natural science and other subjects concerned. There are still a lot to do in the formation, development and improvement of judicial expertise. So,we should clarify the relations between judicial expertise and legal education, make a deep research into the content and level of education of judicial expertise, work out the course arrangement and teaching method, thus to promote the development and improvement of judicial expertise education.

    2008(03): 20-23.
    Abstract ( )
With the advance of science and technology, new problems related to forensic examination of stamp impressions, such as identification of forged stamp impressions made by high simulation techniques, examination of altered stamps, examination of tampered documents using genuine stamp impressions, examination of stamp impressions made with the same plate and sequencing of words and stamp impressions, are encountered frequently and pose new challenges for questioned document examination. In the paper, forging methods with high simulation techniques are presented, including transferring from genuine stamp impressions, duplicating by color printing and photocopying, imprinting by forged stamps made with laser carving, plate making and photosensitive making techniques.Characteristics of these forged stamp impressions are discussed;and examination approaches and key points are put forward.

    Abstract ( )
Measuring the degree of sulfate's diffusion is an important method for dating blue-black fountain pen ink writings, but artificial aging by lighting causes some changes for measurement. In order to find out the rules of artificial aging, the critical point of sulfate diffusion degree for artificial UV lighting was investigated, and the result was compared with that for natural aging.

Review of Hair Analysis after a Single Dose Administration
    SUN Qi-ran;XIANG Ping;SHEN Min(Institute of Forensic Science;Ministry of Justice;Shanghai 000;China)
    2008(03): 31-37.
    Abstract ( )
Drug-facilitated crimes refer to the use of drugs to modify the victim's behavior for criminal gains.Drugs used to facilitate crimes can hardly be detected in blood or urine samples, because they can be rapidly cleared from the human body.In contrast, hair analysis boasts longer detection window, thus it has an important application in drug-facilitated crimes. The hair analysis after a single administration requires more sensitive methods, which needs to be carried out by LC-MS/MS or GC-MS/MS.Special attentions must be paid on the decontamination procedures of hair samples, and a negative result should be detected in the distal segments.Up to now, there have been detection or determination methods for 31 benzodiazepines and hypnotics,6 amphetamines and analogues,GHB,thiopental and pentobarbital and EtG in hair. All the methods could be applied to the drug-facilitated cases.

    Issues Related to Earprints
    DONG Kai(Law College of Heilongjiang University;Haerbin 000;China)
    2008(03): 38-44+5.
    Abstract ( )
In the field of forensic science, identification of earprints is a new and interesting topic for many forensic examiners.Three issues related to earprints are reported. The first is about visualization of earprints, including ways of developing, the relationship between developing time and the effect, the relationship between surfaces and the effect, and the method of collecting. The second is about personal identification. The scientificity of earprint identification is discussed on the basis of a small range experiment of earprints.Besides, the procedure, method and criterion of earprint identification are also introduced. The third issue is concerned with how to deduce one's height from his earprint left at the crime scene.Through experimental statistics,we try to find a formula that establishes the relationship between a person's height and the height of his earprints.

    LI Li;CHANG Jing-jing;GUO Hong;ZHANG Su-hua;(.Institute of Forensic Science;Ministry of Justice;Shanghai 000;.Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University;Shanghai 000;.Medical School of Soochow University;Suzhou;China)
    2008(03): 45-49.
    Abstract ( )
X chromosome is 154.8Mb long, and single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) are the most common and informative type of genetic variation on the chromosome, occurring approximately once every kilobase. For individual identification in forensic sciences,167 SNPs located on X-chromosome were selected on the criteria of conservation and high informative(i.e.the minor allele frequency of each X-SNP locus was above 0.3 in Chinese Han populations). These loci could be typed by high throughout and sensitive analysis, and their polymorphic parameters could be valuated by statistic methods. As an alternative to nuclear DNA,SNP loci on X-chromosome has a particular advantage in resolving special parentage cases. They could also be used for gender identification and mixed stains detection.

    Abstract ( )
The skeletal age is the bone age determined in forensic medicine, while the age of criminal responsibility, which is defined in criminal law,is the age one,Iives. The above two ages have different meanings.Disputes often arise when skeletal age is used in judgment by judicial bodies,so it is an important and hard task for forensic medicine to determine the skeletal age close enough to living age.In the paper, the differences and the causes of the two ages are analyzed. It is urged that new and comprehensive standard or specification be drafted as soon as possible.
